Tenants of My Book "Reviews"
Listen. I'm not really sure what a book review is. I follow some booktubers, but it doesn't feel like they review a book when they say they review a book. I follow some professional online-and-sometimes-in-print posters, but it doesn't feel like they review a book when they say they review a book. I listen to some podcasters who recommend books, but it doesn't feel like they review a book when they say they review a book. And you know what - if it smells like dog poop where ever you go, you should check your shoe. So I'm open to the idea that maybe it's me. Regardless, I'm hoping to use this website to do what I am looking for when I use the term "review". Here's the promises I hope to keep to myself and you.
  1. Always present the positive, beacuse no one really needs help hating a book.
  2. Always link to other texts where ever possible. Reading is a journey, a review should be a personal map for how you got here and where you'd like to be going.
  3. Always look for a lead to be inspired to create something from reading, and sometimes share it.
  4. Never assume you read the book right, and probably assume you read it wrong.
  5. Never assume someone should read any particular book, never recommend who should read the book you enjoyed. You're not a salesperson.
